DESCRIPTION: APW - Hamilton, Grade 992B with "U.S. Army" marked mvt and very unusual dial, 21J, 16S, .800 silver OF case, enamel DS dial with white center section and seconds-register, black outer chapter, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, mono-metallic balance with Elinvar hairspring, striped pattern nickel damascene, s#C8343. This particular movement serial number is listed in the Hamilton ledger as having been sold on April 29th, 1941. Comes with a fitted wooden box with Hamilton signature plaque to its front. From the well-known Hamilton collection of Robert Bennett of Olivehurst, California.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous surfaces, few minuscule specks of oxide to larger winding wheel and regulator spring; nearly flawless dial with small hl below seconds-register; hour and minute hands likely originally held luminous material which is now missing, hands otherwise excellent; case components with mismatched serial numbers to one another, case shows little wear, ding to band at 8, few minuscule nicks to band at 11; tight bow, crown is a chrome-plated base metal replacement showing light wear and tilts a bit as turned; clean plastic crystal. Box in excellent cosmetic condition.
